Attorney and mediator

Angela Clausen is an attorney and mediator based in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. With over 15 years of legal experience in both Germany and the United States, she provides expert legal counsel and alternative dispute resolution services in the areas of civil law, mediation, international law, and criminal law.

She received her law degree from Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany, and also took courses at universities in Sweden and Austria. This international education gives her a unique global perspective that benefits her clients. She is licensed to practice law in Germany.

Over the course of her career, she has gained valuable hands-on legal experience. As part of her training, she worked closely with a judge at the Traunstein Municipal Court, gaining first-hand knowledge of the courtroom litigation process. She gained valuable prosecution experience at the District Attorney's Office in Los Angeles, and also spent time at the Office of the Public Defender in San Diego, advocating for underprivileged clients. These experiences taught her how to effectively represent clients in criminal matters.

In addition to criminal law, she also has extensive experience in mediation and alternative dispute resolution. She firmly believes that settlement outside of court can lead to more amicable and expedient resolutions than drawn-out litigation.  She aims to find win-win scenarios that satisfy all parties involved.

Her experience is not just limited to the courtroom. She has also worked in private practice for law firms in Munich. This well-rounded background allows her to understand the needs of diverse clients.

She is fluent in German, English and Swedish, enabling her to take on clients from varied backgrounds.

Don't Be Afraid to Stand Up for Your Rights

While it's often easier to avoid confrontation, sometimes you need to stand up for yourself and exercise your rights. There are situations where staying silent or letting things slide can end up hurting you down the road.

If you've been wrongfully terminated, speaking up and consulting an employment lawyer could be important. They can assess if your past employer violated labor laws and whether you have grounds for a lawsuit. Staying quiet may hamper future job prospects or let the company get away with wrongful practices.

Standing up to workplace harassment is also crucial. If you are subject to sexual harassment or a hostile work environment, taking action such as reporting the behavior or filing legal charges can protect your interests. No one should feel unsafe at their job.

In relationships, don't ignore warning signs of abuse or controlling behavior. Recognize when a partner is violating your rights and take steps to get help. You deserve to feel valued and respected.

While being confrontational is uncomfortable for most people, it's important to find your voice. Speaking up about injustices, even through legal action if necessary, can create positive change. Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself.

Additionally, there are psychological benefits to advocating for your rights. Standing up for yourself can build self-confidence and self-worth. It reinforces boundaries and helps you regain control over situations where you feel powerless. Learning to become your own best advocate promotes resilience and reduces anxiety.

At the Clausen Law Firm, we are prepared to assist you in standing up for your legal rights. Contact us to schedule a consultation.

The Benefits of Mediation

At the Clausen Law Firm, we are strong advocates for mediation as an alternative form of dispute resolution. Mediation can provide many benefits over traditional litigation for resolving legal conflicts.

More Control Over the Outcome

In mediation, the parties work together with the mediator to come up with a mutually agreeable solution. This gives you more control and flexibility to craft a customized resolution that addresses your key interests and priorities. The settlement is voluntary - neither party is forced to accept terms they are uncomfortable with.

Protects Relationships

Court cases can take an emotional toll and permanently damage relationships between parties. Mediation provides a more collaborative environment to work through conflicts, allowing parties to preserve business partnerships, family relationships, and other important connections.

Saves Time

Rather than getting bogged down in lengthy court procedures and hearings, mediation facilitates quick dispute resolution through focused, confidential sessions. The flexible scheduling for mediation also allows for a speedier settlement.

Cost Effective

Mediation is generally much more affordable than litigation. Attorney fees, court costs, and other legal expenses can quickly add up in court cases. Opting for mediation early on can save significantly on these costs.

Innovative Solutions

Courts are limited in the remedies they can impose. In mediation, the parties can get creative and customize solutions that wouldn't be possible through traditional litigation. Settlements can include wider ranging terms to satisfy all stakeholders.

Confidential Process

Everything discussed in mediation remains confidential, unlike the public nature of courtroom litigation. This privacy provides a safe space for parties to be open about their interests and desires for settlement.

At the Clausen Law Firm, our experienced mediator Angela Clausen helps parties resolve disputes through mediation. If you have a conflict you want to settle out of court, contact us today to learn more about mediation.
